Best Japanese
1. Kaizen Sushi Bar (various locations)
2. Mikado (various locations)
3. Kanda (2045 Bishop, (514) 845-8868)
4. Sho-Dan (various locations)
5. Miso (4000 Ste-Catherine W., (514) 908-6476)
How the hell is Kaizen the number 1 Japanese I ask? Koji’s, people seem to think you’re better than Shô-Dan but they’re obviously high on bad taste. Mikado your Tuna Tempera arouses me.
Best Korean
1. Seoul (5030 Sherbrooke W., (514) 489-3686)
2. Man-na (1421 Bishop, (514) 288-1703)
3. Quatre Saisons (4200 St-Jacques, (514) 932-3309)
4. Chez Bong (1021 St-Laurent, (514) 396-7779)
5. Bulgogi (2127 Ste-Catherine W., (514) 935-9820)
I don’t really frequent that many Korean restaurants, but you know what I should. The only ones I can comment on are not on the list. Korea House on Queen Mary, I love your tasty treats, or try Hwang-Kum and get the paddlepop salad. To the rest of you, where have you been all my life?
Best Latino
1. La Chilenita (various locations)
2. Casa Tapas (266 Rachel E., (514) 848-1063)
3. La Carretta (350 St-Zotique E., (514) 273-8884)
4. Senzala (various locations)
5. La Selva (862 Marie-Anne E., (514) 525-1798)
I kind of like to start of on a bad note…. so Casa Tapas, you will never be part of my family not even once, twice or thrice removed. La Chilenita you are the best latin restaurant in Montreal and deserve the top spot, for your Chilean style empanadas are empalious. If you’re looking for a fine grilled fruit, head over to Senzala for breakfast, but don’t stay for lunch or dinner. La Selva (byob – Bring your own alcohol), your cheap, authentic Peruvian food should have made you number two, however, cutback streets make for no hipster appeal.

Best Mexican
1. 3 Amigos (Three Amigos) (1657 Ste-Catherine W., (514) 939-3329)
2. Carlos & Pepes (1420 Peel, (514) 288-3090)
3. Casa de Matéo (438 St-François-Xavier, (514) 844-7448)
4. Taqueria Mex (various locations)
5. La Nacion Review (1850 Ste-Catherine W., (514) 931-2956)
Oralay Vatos what’s happeneeeeing! number 1 is defiantly Number five La Nacion Review as per our review. 3 Amigos, pretty crappy (your free salsa and cheap fajitas Wednesdays do tempt me), a good place to get that Concordia girl drunk. Carlos & Pepes i guess your food tastes good goin down but burns coming out. Casa de Matéo, I want to becoma your family. Taqueria Mex you’re a Montreal Mexican native that I’ve never dated.
Best Middle-Eastern
1. Boustan (2020A Crescent, (514) 843-3576)
2. Amir (various locations)
3. Al-Taib (various locations)
4. Basha (various locations
5. La Sirène de la Mer (various locations)
Sinai freshly slaughtered desert goat is still number one in my eyes but if you are looking for the best middle eastern food in Montreal head to Daou. Boustan you’re the best middle east cutback restaurant in the city. Al-Taib you are number 2, Basha you are number 3, Amir on de Maisonneuve and crescent you’re number 4 and La Sirène de la Mer though good, I kinda hope you die of scurvy.
Best Portuguese
1. Jano (3883 St-Laurent, (514) 849-0646)
2. Chez Doval (150 Marie-Anne E., (514) 843-3390)
3. Romados (115 Rachel E., (514) 849-1803)
4. Coco Rico (3907 St-Laurent, (514) 849-5554)
5. Roi du Plateau (51 Rachel W., (514) 844-8393)
Though pricey according to Nancy (the Portuguese girl at the table next to us) the best Portuguese restaurant in Montreal is Sol Mar. Now looking at all the other picks you guys definitely made some good choices. Chez Doval is great and if you go on a Friday or Saturday you will be serenaded by an old Portuguese man. Janos is always amazing (potent hot sauce) and so are all the others. We’re blessed with bonne Portuguese restaurants in French Canadia!

Best Bagel
1. St–Viateur (263 St-Viateur W., (514) 276-8044)
2. Fairmount (74 Fairmount W., (514) 272-0667)
3. R.E.A.L. Bagel (various locations)
4. DAD’s Bagels (5732 Sherbrooke W., (514) 487-2454)
5. Faubourg’s The Bagel Place (1616) Ste-Catherine W., 514-931-2827)
Congratulations boys and girls you pinned the best Montreal bagel places in the city maybe even in the world (pinkie finger in the mouth). St–Viateur bagel you tempt me with your crispy exterior and a soft, moist, succulent, juicy, sweet interior.
