Montreal Restaurant Decarie Hot Dog Chef Deck says:

Teenage flashbacks of french fries, burgers, hotdogs, orange fizzy boobelach, and ever growing boy boobs fill my mind with endorphins. In my opinion Decarie Hotdog is the best Montreal casse-croute and the best in Quebec south of the Laurentians (shout out to 100% Boeuf). I love it as much as Bukowski loves the booze and broads. Some Montreal restos have a better poutine (like Patati Patata), some may have better burgers (like Le Paryse), but none have a better overall package (just ask Chef Shmuts). I thank my mommy and daddy for letting me grow up so close to this fine establishment, and pray that my children will grow portly on Decarie Hotdog too.

Mmm, grease. Love the shout-out to Bukowski! Your pix are making me hungry, and I may have to head out to the nearest greasy spoon in my ‘hood: Rex Pizza!

  • The Butcher

If The Butcher was still able to ingest Leukaemia causing pink reconstituted meat tubes, this is where he would head…. Definitely a Montreal classic!

Despite the price having gone up exponentially over the years (who remembers the 50c hot dogs?), I still love going to Decarie for my quick grease fix. I'm not a big fan of steamies in general, and I definitely wouldn't say that theirs are anything to brag about, but you're right to say that it's the overall package that's done so well.

They have become quite pricey though, the poutine combo is close to $8.00 now.

I might get chastised for this, but I actually find their poutines to be one of the best in Montreal. Their fries are quite greasy, their sauce has a bit of spice to it, and the cheese usually ends up a molten mess, but if you have it when it's hot there's nothing better on a cold winter day. Better than Patati Patata, better than Banquise, better than Paryse.

Hey, Chef Deck, seems like you're a real fan of this casse-croûte! I guess you think that Decarie Hot Dogs are better than any in New York. I did a comparison between Chelsea Papaya hot dogs and that other Montreal wiener institution, Mont-Royal Hot Dog. Check it out here. http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/Blogs/Epicurea...
