Thanks for this review. I have been living close to Décarie Hot Dogs for the last 6 years and I have never tried it (shame on me). I will do so before the end of the summer.

This is the original greasy spoon joint! Although Nick is not there always, his son is, and they are serving the same quality atmosphere and food for 2 generations. With a Belle Provinvince right across the street, they are still getting lines out the door.

P.S. I love Chef Deck’s shout out to 100% Boeuf just north of Ste-Agathe.

Hey, Chef Deck, seems like you're a real fan of this casse-croûte! I guess you think that Decarie Hot Dogs are better than any in New York. Despite the price having gone up exponentially over the years (who remembers the 50c hot dogs?), I still love going to Decarie for my quick grease fix. I'm not a big fan of steamies in general, and I definitely wouldn't say that theirs are anything to brag about, but you're right to say that it's the overall package that's done so well.

They have become quite pricey though, the poutine combo is close to $8.00 now.

I might get chastised for this, but I actually find their poutines to be one of the best in Montreal. Their fries are quite greasy, their sauce has a bit of spice to it, and the cheese usually ends up a molten mess, but if you have it when it's hot there's nothing better on a cold winter day. Better than Patati Patata, better than Banquise, better than Paryse.
