On Holder restaurant Montreal Chef Deck Says:
Restaurant Holder reminds me of a girl thats good from far but far from good. On paper you look great, good atmosphere, 1/4 decent bistro menu, hip spot where all the so called coolest in Montreal hang, and a nice wine list. Unfortunately once you get a taste of these culinary creations you’re left highly disappointed. The duck confit tasted like the prepackaged ones you can by at Metro (not Atwater or Jean Talon Market), the nicoise salad with seared tuna was boring and under spiced, and the Pasta with pine nuts and I forget what was OK but by no means spectacular. The only decent dish was the french fries. I say down with Holder and your gross misdirection!

Price: pretty cheap everything around $20/10

May I add thumbsdown to their service with the exception of the friendly guys serving in the bar area. I have experienced many snooty waitresses at Holder. I don’t care if you are at Toqué or Green Stop…. your server should ALWAYS be pleasant.

Your comment is spot on – there is nothing fantastic about the place, contrary to all that it’s built up to be.
The food is not great at all but I did once have the caramel molten cake which was excellent.

went in there for a late breakfast and it was fantastic!
we also ended up ordering 2 rounds of the oj….its awesome!
Went there with friends Friday night. The company and the atmosphere were great but the rib steak was as hard as a rock. Lots of hype for nothing. The meat at Costco is far superior!
