L’Original Restaurant

*UPDATE: See our coverage of the one year anniversay of restaurant L’Orignal

Monika Terlecki and Travis Champion two of the people behind Old-Montreal hot spot Garde-Manger, have opened a new restaurant, L’Orignal right around the corner. They have already created a buzz, hosting a party before the official opening for media, and friends, with champagne, oysters, apps, and fun. L’Orignal’s menu will feature traditional Quebecoise cuisine (fish, game meats and top local products) with a modern twist. The decor features features plenty of wood and original stone walls and is located in a heritage building. If you are looking for a new place to try in the increasingly popular western Old Montreal area check it out. Look for rue Saint-Alexis the small street (almost an alley) one block east of Saint-Pierre, L’Orignal restaurant is on the right with a little moose on the door.

Looks FABULOUS! I just can't wait to try this new restaurant next time I am in Montreal. I have spread to word to all my friends in Geneva (Switz) who also visit your city!
  • Looks beautiful! I'll be coming to scope it out on Friday next week. Looking forward to some local game meat...to compare to the ones we eat in East Africa! Also excited to meet the two founders!

I went to l'orignal once. I didnt eat there, just had a glass of wine. But i liked the atmosphere because the people were snobby and i like that because im so mean. Theres a lot of hype surrounding that place, im scared to try the food because i think i'll expect too much.

The restaurant looks very nice, the doorman made all the difference, cheerful, happy and full of positive comments, I was going to tip him, but he said, NO, Iwill not take your money,NO, not for you , not for god!!!

I recommend l'orignal to any body with taste and flair of the unknown....

Great place, great atmosphere and great food.

The firefigther/doorman was an added bonus!

A must see while in Montreal.

Everything was just perfect at L'Orignal! From the entrence to the exit... Because there is the sexiest and the most polite doorman ever seen to welcome you and to wish you good night!
    Good dreams for sure!

wow..I'm blushing! but I was a client way before I was the doorman at l'orignal. The new chef marco is a vast improvement over the previous one...and the rabbit poutine....killer!

L'orignal is just a great place with an ultra friendly vibe....the good looking women doesn't hurt much either...:)
  • Steven
I actually thought the doorman was gay! Go figure!
Nice guy and all, but really whats will the firefighter outfit.
  • Glen
gay?? I wish my fashion sence was that good!!

the suit is strictly for the ladies....and fires..:)
