Best restaurant in Montreal in this price range! I've been going for years (the last 4 or 5 I'd estimate) and I have to say that I have yet to enjoy a less-than-spectacular meal. I must admit though, I find that in the last year or two, the service has taken a slight hit. They had one waiter, whose name I can't remember for the life of me right now, and he's no longer there. They haven't found a worthy replacement yet. The food is spectacular. My staple there is the fillet mignon, but I have tried many of their dishes and can honestly say that they haven't missed a single one.

I'm a HUGE restaurant fan, and never shy away from spending $300+ on a meal with my gf as long as I think it's worth it. We spend an average of $110 whenever we go to La Prunelle (at least once every 2 months) and I have yet to find anywhere in this fine city that can compete with them. Make your next trip to La Prunelle. I've already reserved for Valentine's Day…

My husband went there yesterday after just walking by and seeing the menu. Fantastic food, good ambience and great connection to the neighborhood. The wild mushroom in fois gras milk appetizer was the best we have ever tasted, the carrot and orange cold soup original and my tuna steak incredible. The service was attentive and very helpful regarding our inability to speak French and the full height garage doors which open to the street were terrific. We even got to hear the neighbor's dog howl to the sirens going by on St. Denis. Fantastic and unexpected.

I have never written a restaurant review online before but La Prunelle is so amazine that I can't help myself. The tuna steak was the best of my entire life, it was served with a beautiful light hazelnut whip of topping and melted in my mouth. I never wanted the meal to be gone. Plus, it's bring your own wine! You will love it!

The staff are a bit clueless (mixed up orders and errors on the bill) and the food is copious but hard to digest. After two stomach aches, I won’t be making a third visit.

Just wanted to express what a bad experience I had at La Prunelle last Saturday. A group of friends and I went there, quite excited to taste the menu. We were treated extremely rudely by the staff, food was not served at the same time for all, there were numerous mix-ups, creme brulees had not been brulee on the top, coffees not served. When we expressed our disappointment, staff took it very personally and instead of apologizing or finding ways to make things better, became quite aggressive. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

hey curly I am sorry to hear of the poor bad experience. I know a loud group can easily ruin an evening. December is a dangerous time to go out with all the Christmas parties.

Thanks for the advice! I found this post today and decided to go based solely on your opinions.

Unfortunately the only thing we couldn’t have predicted was an extremely loud office party. What was supposed to be an intimate birthday diner for just me and my wife ended up being a shouting match with the boorish imbeciles taking up half the restaurant. I wish I had some warning… So diners be advised! If dining anywhere in December, beware of going Monday to Wednesday nights, as these tend to be the nights that restos will accommodate large parties!

Having got that off my chest, I must now focus on my stomach– OUTSTANDING food! We had two different starters that both featured warm cheese (perfect for a snowy evening). Mains were a perfectly prepared trout in a shrimp sauce and a delightful guinea fowl with a rich brown sauce, the name of which eludes me at this moment.

I give this restaurant top marks!

I had my bday dinner party there! Food was yummy (unlike many BYOW) and we dranks LOTS of fine wine Everyone loved it!

Went to LaPrunelle Sat night – small intimate restaurant – byow – staff very friendly and knowledgable abount the menu – terrific specials,
if you like lamb, try the shank – excellent desserts too – won’t cost you an arm and leg like many city restaurants – make sure you book it a few days in advance and take a cab!!
