I must say that that there is no restaurant in the city that pisses me off as much as this one. It really does suck but for some reason every wanker in the city loves this Dulth BYOB. Hela weak.

I agree with you! Six years ago, L’academie was much better, but it has gone very downhill. I’ve had a couple bad waiters, the service is often very rushed, and many of the mains are really just not that good. And yes, La Prunelle found a block away is absolutely to-die-for.
OMG, you are so right! We were a group of about 10 people; all our meals took over one hour after ordering, half of our meals were cold (or slightly warm), and one person got food poisoning from the muscles… need I say more??? Terrible!!!
l’academie is fun…i have gone out of my way numerous times to go there. the reason? good atmosphere and super CHEAP plates…
but let’s admit it,
the food sort of stinks, just not as much as if you were to cook for yourself.
so let’s call it what it is,
a good restaurant for people who can’t afford actual good food, which also offers good ambiance and byob…
I’m so glad to read this…I’ve thought this a looooong time.
I hate this restaurant …. first of all my food was horrible (pasta with clams) and second the waitress robbed me 8$ (she decided to fraud my credit card and out of 12$ she took 8$ tip…) I did not realize because my credit card works with a chip and you don t need to sign.., she simply asked me to put my pin # …. and i trusted her ???… only at home did I check my bill … beware of this dump

I agree. Shitty. The mussels were not cooked properly. Very mediocre. Why are there line-ups all the time?
We have been to l’Académie on boul. Galerie d’Anjou a few times, long time ago. First visits were great, they were not busy, food and service were excellent. Every visit since was a disaster. When they get busy, expect to have platters dropped from the waiters arms as they scurry up and down the stairs to the 2nd floor. And long waits, very long waits. When they’re busy, they don’t seem to have enough staff. The tension is palpable. Don’t accept a table near the door when they’re busy, you’ll be in the middle of a mess of activity. They can do it right, though. You just have to be lucky to be there at the right time.
I tryed many locations. And it's the same thing each time! Not impressive. Your going out of this restaurant with a feelingt of a non-accomplishment. You fill yourself to survive to the next meal. I can do this with 0.50$ hot dogs.
Kind of restaurant who trying to be too much.
Food is pretty mediocre, but I was pretty surprised by the one on Crescent the last time I went. Whatever, it's relatively cheap, and if she doesn't know better it's easy to impress a date.

As I've been passing by the place manier times and seeing how crowded it always was, I was curious to know the experience people had in this restaurant even if I didn't intend to go. Why? Too crowded, huge line up not to mentionned the crowded sidewalk of smoker patrons(must be a lot of in/out movements for a tight spot). And after reading all the comments, it's amazing how this place's still full.
