On Restaurant Laitue & go Montreal Chef Deck says:
I know what you’re all thinking…what the hell is a chef pushing 300 pounds doing eating rabbit food for lunch? Well the take-out salads at Laitue & go aren’t only for hippies; they’re also for men, and men with appetites. It makes me so happy that this little diddy moved into to Place Ville Marie because now I have a health conscious alternative that doesn’t disappoint. I usually opt for the Asian salad (baby spinach, grilled chicken, mandarins, avocado, crispy noodles, sesame dressing and more), or the Mexican (grilled chicken, cheddar, red beans, avocado, spicy dressing and more), but Fugesee swears by the tuna cottage cheese concoction. Salad and meal in the same sentence? I know who would have thunk it, but it’s as real as the orange juice at Beauty’s.
Food: truly very tasty/10
Price: under $10/10
Atmosphere: you get to rub shoulders with all the so called who’s who of Montreal/10

in all fairness, if i had not previously stumbled upon the geniousness of CRÉATIONS CHOP CRAZY (located under SIMON’s department store) salads several weeks earlier, i too might have given in to the laitue & go hype. one cannot argue, it is a damn good salad. but there’s only room for one “best fast food lunch salad in the downtown core” and that coveted spot undoubtedly must be given to creations chop crazy.
forget the fact that i have never waited in line for more than 3 minutes at CCC, while i waited a total of 35 minutes to get my L&G salad (that would be because there are two (yes, two) separate very long lines - one to chose your ingredients and a second to pay).
while CCC lets you mix three kinds of lettuce, L&G only allows you to mix two…i settled on romaine and spinach but dearly missed my crunchy iceberg. also, while it is completely understandable that certain ingredients merit an extra charge (sun-dried tomatoes for example), L&G (unlike chop crazy) charges extra for things like hearts of palm (!!!). i also like the variety of toppings better at CCC (Laitue & Go didn’t have the grilled peppers that i love so much).
some people may prefer the long grilled chicken strips served by laitue & go as opposed to the grilled chicken cubes served by chop crazy, but i thought it was just annoying to have to start cutting my chicken with a knife while eating this salad. (extra annoying to get back to my office only to discover that L&G didn’t even put a fork or a knife in the take-out bag…something my dear CCC would never do).
i think the thing that really broke the camel’s back was the fact that the compartments holding all the ingredients at the L&G counter were all messed up. they used the same tongs to serve all the ingredients (and as somebody who is allergic to shrimp that really bothered me) and there was avocado (not a fan) smeared all over those tongs to boot!
all in all, my L&G salad was very tasty. i have to admit that their sun-dried tomatoes were better than those at CCC and i like the big cucumber cubes better than the diced ones served at chop crazy. I give my L&G salad an 8.5/10 - it was delicious….BUT why settle for an 8.5 when i can have a nearly perfect 9.7/10 salad from creations chop crazy?!!!

I’m sorry but I think the last post is compromised. Maybe that guy has shares in Chop Crazy.. For that, I give a try to Laitue ‘n Go pretty sure it’s better..

I preferred Laitue & Go far better than Chop Crazy. At equal price, Laitue & Go’s dressings taste better…that is if you get the right dressing in your salad.
Yes the line-up may be an issue sometimes, but they are getting there. Besides, you always get to see a few colleagues in line at Laitue & Go which is far different from the under 20 crowd of Chop Crazy.
Despite the dressing mistake, my vote would go to Laitue & Go.

How can you compare? For those who say that L and G is beter than ccc its probably because you never went to taste it your self! The qualaty of the food and the pricings are much beter at ccc! Honestly, just try it sometime!
