Little anecdote... I dined at this establishment about 2 weeks ago. Immediately upon receiving my salad, i noticed a difference. The sauce was olive-oil based, as opposed to the traditional acidic vinaigrette. Amused by this unexpected twist, I frivolously welcomed the upgraded plating and presentation style as I observed my fellow patrons being served their mains…I could hardly wait to devour my usual house treat- a succulent dish of grilled calamari.
The following moments remain rather blurry, or perhaps voluntarily repressed. From afar i could see something was out of place - the Calamaries were sliced into rings! (wise Portuguese man suggest you should always keep your Calamari WHOLE on the grill, and slice them only for frying/sautéing purposes!!!). They were also covered with an unidentified reddish sauce (did they turn Spanish on me?!), and to top it all- they were served cold, a matter that only extenuated their rubbery texture resulting from callous treatment by the Chef. Disappointment is not enough to describe my feelings. Betrayal sounds more like it… how could Jano’s team do this to me?
Well, things got clearer yesterday night. A loyal costumer I said, I decided to return to the scene of crime. And I got all the answers I need: this place is no longer owned by the people running Jano’s. While the original menu was kept, Barceló’s and Jano’s are no longer listed as family. What a relief! …you know, I used to follow this rule: cold and rainy days lead me to Jano’s, while beautiful sunny terrace days bring me to Barceló’s. I guess rules are truly meant to be broke. and it is a good time to go back to basics: Janos!

L'accueil est chaleureux. Les repas succulents. Les grillades portugaises ne perdent pas leur réputation chez Le Barcelos. Le service est familial et convivial. Bravo à l'équipe et au nouveau propriétaire qui dirige de main de maître.
