Sergio Momesso might not have been the best Montreal hockey player in the world but his legacy lives on through his faultless sub. In my humble opinion Momesso’s Restaurant has by far the greatest Montreal sub I ever tasted. I have only ever experienced their sausage sub, because once you go spicy sausage, you can never go back. The meat is so succulent, the spice is just right, the bread has the ideal crisp, and the coleslaw brings together the medley of perfection. I’m also smitten with their onion rings which add to the overall utopia of flavors. So to finish if you or anyone out there wants a real legacy (not a commercial Wayne Gretzky one) stuff that sausage and that sausage will stuff you!

Try cafe milano subs on Jarry ( between lacordaire and viau) my opion cafe milano 2 to bocci resto bar which is located in la salle on dollard these are better then momesso’s. sorry just what i think.
Tony’s right, milano makes a mean sub but momessos is still great!
Milano’s the best! I agree with Tony and Vince.
There’s an italian bakery on Henri-Bourassa east, called Del-Sole. You can skip their desserts but not their istalian sausage sub.

Momesso’s is an N.D.G classic, a gem of that small Italian micro-community that resides around upper lachine. For a less greasy version (not better just less greasy) of that very sub you can hit Angostini (or maybe Agostini)….it used to be right across from momessos but apparently has relocated somewhere on Sommerled.
Momesso’s has been a fixture for many years in NDG. its is Sergios dad that started it and has been run by his brother ever since. I remember in 1986 when he was with the Habs meeting most of the team there,
Sergio has his own place in the West Island. Its not bad but not the same. The grills in NDG have been there for so many years and have a distinct taste to them. Now I crave a sausage sub what to do what to do. I guess I need to try the onion rings too

My husband keeps on telling me about this place. Of course, he usually mentions it on a Sunday, when they’re closed. But one of these days, I’m going to go there and try this delicious sub. They ought to start redirecting the poor kids hitting up the nearby Subway on Sherbrooke and Decarie…
This place is a gem. I remember this place when it was mom&pop humble lil diner.
The BEST italian subs in the city. Probably in Canada too. I was a lil squirt discovering this euro goodness. Back in the day, subs were $2.50 ea, now…$$ but still worth every penny. Still a family type mom&pop joint.
Highly recommended, especially if you've never had an italian sub. 10/10
I most definitely agree! Momesso's has great subs! some of the best…and if you're lucky…like I was…sergio will be there when you go…he also has a second location in DDO (3669 Saint Jean Boulevard, Dollard Des Ormeaux) which is where I went…glad to see that the food is consistent from location to location!
I never tried Milano's but I guess I'll give it try based on all the recommends from other commentator's!

What's happening? Why is it closing? Will it repopen somewhere else?
I've been going there for over 10 years… Started out at the Lachine one
and then found the West Island one…and I was so upset to find that
the West Island one was closed. I did go a few times over that last few years to
the upper Lachine one, but it was always closed when I went.
PLEASE TELL ME IT WILL REOPEN….

I have a small stomac and usually I can eat only one 10 inch sub. But when I go to Momesso I DO EAT 2 of them without any pain. Incredibly addictive ! This afternoon I went to the DDO Momesso to treat my guys. Not there anymore! So we went to the best smoked meat Restaurant on St-Louis (Restaurant St-Laurent Deli). But when you have a crave for Momesso sub the delicious smoked meat plate doesn't heal you .
