Pizzaria napolitana resto Montreal

On Restaurant Pizzeria Napoletana Chef Deck says:

Pizzaria Napoletana was once one of my favorites but I must say it has gone downhill. Maybe they don’t feel that quality and service is of importance anymore considering most people like mediocre food, and the fact that there is always a minimum of a 20 minute wait to be seated. As you can see loyal reader this is a little bit of a sore spot in my heart considering I used to love it here. Now onto the food… all pizzas are thin crust and very good, the pasta is ok, sausage is good but “Roma”, and salads are salads. What I will say is that it’s still a good place to go with large groups if you make a reso, and it’s nice that it’s bring your own wine.

Popular, casual restos with bad service is a very common phenomenon. They do have interesting pizzas though and will always be a classic. Sorry Deck, you´ll have to live with it.

I share your frustration about the horrible service. When I frequent the restaurant I often get extremely frustrated to the point where I see myself going postal on the waiters. This relaxes me a bit..there’s nothing like an image of your waiter being littered with machine gun fire to calm your nerves. I’ve noticed the closer you sit to the waiters station/kitchen door/pay counter/bar the better the service. Try it.

The pizza is pretty good here but after my experience a few ago I ill never go back. At least not for dinner. After getting there and waiting in line for over an hour and by waiting in line I mean sitting on the sidewalk outside the restaurant since you cannot wait inside we were finally called upon. They sat us in the back corner next to 20 other loud big groups which made it very hard to even speak which was understandable since it was a popular place but still annoying. After 20 minutes waiting for the waiter to take our order and trying to get his attention in any way we could my girl had to chase him down through the restaurant to get him over to our table. Took another hour to get the food and you can imagine how easy it was to get a refill glass of water to survive the heat or pay the bill. Also this was not the case where the waiter was trying to do the best he could in a bad busy situation. We all felt an arrogance from the staff that we could not understand from someone in the service industry trying to make a living on tips. Maybe to many people tip the 15% whatever the service is good or bad. But still the pizza was better than most place, So overall it was a frustrating but not a horrible experience.

Insider I will try your advice to sit near the waiters station/kitchen door/pay counter/bar to get better service if I ever go back but on most nights it is too busy to make seating requests and it is more if a sit where they tell you to situation.

The service is horrible even during the day with maybe 10 other people eating in the restaurant. The waiters are arrogant. We felt as if they didn’t even want to serve us at all. On another occasion, it was me and another person. We were seated at a table for 4. We didn’t think anything about it until the waiter placed a second couple at our table because it was so full. I will never step foot in this restaurant again.

Certainly the service could be better - but it’s a casual eatery. Having worked for a similar restaurant myself most places such as this make their money not based on the quality of service but the quantity of people that come in and out (same goes for waiters and they probably share tips too). What keeps people coming back is the pizza, the price and the fact that you can bring your own wine- and lets face it, people in Montreal love to save money whenever they can.

you can live on quantity for long…. quality is what makes people come back… good service AND good food are both important to maintain respect and integrity in the service industry.
there is no excuse for arrogance - this is simply a results of today’s young adults attitude today. no matter where you go today… the service SUCKS
