Restaurant Aux Vivres

On Montreal Restaurant Aux Vivres Chef Deck Says:

To be a Vegan or not to be a Vegan? That is the question. Well though Aux Vivres is quite delicious, I’ll have to pass on the full time veganism (if that’s a word). Now that I’ve officially made my decision I must express my surprise and joy on how amazing this place was. We started with chipata bread and veggie butter accompanied by an olive tapanade which was great. Next was the Thai bowl with lots of veggies (lots of bok choi), grilled tofu, and a peanut sauce which was hippie-rific. The highlight though was the BLT wrap, packed to the brim with grilled tofu, coconut bacon chips, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Well Aux Vivres restaurant, you’ve given me a new found appreciation for rollin in the dirt and making out with trees.

I had the (veggie/vegan) lasagna at Aux Vivres once and I gotta say it was delicious. It was the Special of the day and not on the regular menu but they should definitely add it.

KOKOROCO Restaurant at 6620 Blvd. Les Galeries D’Anjou in St. Leonard has the BEST charcoal grilled chicken in town! A whole chicken plus fries, salad, garlic gravy and bread for $15. so tender and spiced just right. They also sell filet mignon, roast beef and many other dishes.
It’s only a small restaurant in a little strip mall but you can also order out.
Try it! You won’t be sorry. 514-493-9888

I visited Aux Vivres for the first time today. I couldn’t give up Romados to become vegan, but their tofu burger was surprisingly delicious. A rectangular “patty” is a bit strange, but it is fairly sizable and comes all-dressed and with a great chili-mayo sauce. $6.

The Cafe Frappe lacked the flavour to make it seem worth the $4 for the normal size (12oz), but I look forward to trying the other blended drinks.

Very friendly staff, community vibe (lots of regulars), and a very clean and spacious place.

    On Sunday(May 10/09) I purchased a take -out Tempeh burger @Aux Vivres
    1) the bun was large and fresh as can be(yummy)
2)the tempeh burger was large and fresh
with enough lettuce, tomato and pickle..
they could hardly fit it into the bag
The chocolate cake was as fresh as could be as well!
    Today(Wednesday)May 13/09 4:20pm I returned for another Tempeh Burger
!) the bun was a day old and small
    2) The Tempeh Burger was half the size and so was the amt. of pickle and lettuce…
    3) the chocolate cake was a day old..not as fresh!
As it was my firs time I was disappointed that the girl serving me did not warn me, that possibly the regular chef was not working at that particular time and that perhaps a sous chef prepared my order. The girl at the cash was not truthful, but will return again on a Sunday afternoon after the Brunch rush, to purchase another Tempeh Burger and hope the bun and burger will be as large and fresh as the first time I was there.

This is a complaint about the 3 apple walnut muffins I bought last
Sunday, thinking they would taste the same as the muffins I have purchased
in the past, which were increadably delicious.
The muffins were encased in plastic, which was a surprise, since they
are usually sitting in the same container in which they were baked.
I was horribly disappointed in the taste and texture. After forcing
myself to eat one, I have decided to throw the rest out since they
were not up to the usual standard, which means not only was I disappointed but my money was wasted. We are speaking about Aux Vivres..the finest vagan restaurant in town!! This should not have occured! Please be kind enough to warn us if the head pastry chef is not working, and someone else
is filling in for him. It's only fair don't you think?

always annoying when someone has to expound on their absolute need to eat meat before reviewing a veggie restaurant. lame.
