I am Romanian and let me tell you that Romanian smoke meat is much better than Schwartz. (Schwartz came from Romania years and years ago.)
You should try Transylvanian smoked pork shoulder. Something like prosciutto but smoked.

After hearing all the hype about Schwartz’s Deli, decided to go there today May 3, 2011.
After living in Montreal 46 years, had to try it out. I was so disappointed . Was the worst smoke meat I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been to Lester’s, Saint-Laurent Deli, Bouras, all better tasting than Schwartz’s. I found the medium smoke meat at Schwartz’s to be bland, two tone color meat, just had no flavor at all. My wife couldn’t finish her sandwich, was making her feel a bit sick. Looking at all the reviews about this restaurant, I can’t believe it, something had to be wrong this day…

Come on guy, this place is like a landmark. It's different and hasn't
changed in decades. I still take my mom over there and we both
simply love it.

great smoke meat, but the rest of the place sucks so do the staff, looks like they never washed since 1928…never again tks. There is much better place.
