Toi Moi et Café Restaurant

Chef Deck says:

Nothing makes me happier than a Montreal breakfast restaurant with those little soft boiled eggie cups that my grandmother used to serve me her soft boiled eggies in on an overcast Vermont morning. I know what your all thinking… yes slightly creepy, but sorry ladies and gentleman it just makes something ordinary that much more delicious. Oh yes, if you want some fine Montreal breakfast, please go to this little Notre-Dame gem. The fruits on all plates are so fresh and tasty, the omelettes are innovative and excellent, the patates are ok, the coffee so very perfect, and yes the overall experience is as fine as that first butt in the mornin. Price to all ten dallas per person.

what a terrible experience.... what kind of a breakfast place that doesn't have a grill?? bring a baguette cold with one slice of bread, not to mention the uneatable soufle...
you can do better than that!!!

    I agree with Gee,,,
Service is terrible (Notredame). I had breakfast there today and I will not go back,.
The toasted bagette was old....we were 3 persons none got the order right and my plate only had 1 piece of potato and 2 mashed pieces. When I asked to have the normal portion of potato I was asked if I wanted an extra serving? I only wanted the portion every other plate had!
We had to ask for more coffee..remind about a juice and bacon missing in one plate.
I had a sinilar experience about 6 months ago...for sure I am not going back!

I just had lunch there and the food was passable. The serving sizes were huge and the eggs were only 'so-so' - though I do admit, the coffee is quite delicious. The wait staff, though, were terribly rude! I forgot my umbrella and when I called to ask if it was still there the person who answered the phone dismissed me right away! She didn't even pretend to look for my umbrella - she said "no - it's not here" and then hung up on me. I would have gone back for the coffee, but now I won't set foot in there again.
  • thanks cece,

Egh..I did not have a pleasant experience here (the one on Laurier)- they ran out of four selections of egg options- so I got an omellette- and it looked like it was made with egg beaters- bright yellow and soggy, when I asked to have it well done- they were very rude about it- at another time I had lunch there, it sounded like a great salad with artichoke hearts, asparagus, avocado..but there was none of that in it- because it wasn't in season?! wierd..I would rather go to Chez Jose or Senzala, though the former is amazing, hands down best breakfast for your buck! eight dollars- for either crepes/delicious omellete with anything you want in it (veggies, chicken, tuna and olives! and a choice of three cheeses..) its huge and delicious, comes with a salad, portugese toast with butter, and a cafe au lait! always amazing service, great great waiters there that know the regulars...give it a review! I challenge you

    Dear Chef Deck,

I suggest you review Quoi de Noeuf? next door on Notre Dame as I feel its a superior breakfast place. The Boys working there are fast, efficient and their food is delicious. Omelettes at Toi et Moi were good but they had a hard time handling the Sunday rush.
  • Sorry Tom but "butt" means cigarette. This is a PG site and i don't mean to offend anyone. We actually have many readers under the legal age of 14 in Quebec and I'm sorry that you misinterpreted my lingo.

I don't want to hear about your sex life when thinking about eating breakfast... 'Butt' in the morning. I thought this was a family site!

  • Do some research,
there's also a Toi Moi et Cafe on Laurier:
244 Laurier West (Jeanne Mance corner) Tel: 514-279-9599

This is a tasty meal. May I have a sip of your sprite to wash down this tasty meal?
